Gascony Painting Holidays are held at Le Grand Barbe, an 18thC farmhouse near the medieval village of Marciac, home of artist Jamie Peters and his wife Suzie. Gascony is surprisingly tourist-free, as it boasts some of the finest countryside in France, from stunning hilltop ‘bastides’ (fortified villages), fields of maize and sunflowers, to the spectacular views of the Pyrénées.

Set on a ridge overlooking farmland and wooded valleys, Grand Barbe offers spacious, en-suite rooms with traditional shuttered windows, oak beams and cool tiled floors. The atmosphere is friendly and informal and, having escaped the day-to-day stresses of life, you will be given every encouragement to relax and do as much or as little work as you wish (non-painting guests are also very welcome).

Untutored painting breaks and B&B are also available throughout the year, excluding tutored holiday dates (Click on 'Dates and Prices' for details).This is popular in August with jazz enthusiasts who can paint and enjoy music during the annual Marciac Jazz Festival (1-16 August).
