Born in 1946, Jamie Peters grew up near Epping Forest. He worked as a musician in the West End production of ‘Hair’ and with the bands of Georgie Fame and Dusty Springfield before attending Hornsey Art School where he gained a B.A. (Hons) in Fine Art in 1978.

Apart from teaching art, Jamie has held one-man shows in London, Bristol and France. He has painted in California, Australia and New Zealand, and has undertaken many portrait and mural commissions. A lover of landscape painting, he moved to Gascony attracted by the beauty of the countryside and wide open spaces.

Jamie paints daily and continues to exhibit regularly; working mainly in oils and watercolour he aims to develop a rapid, loose yet accurate response to observed nature. Based at Grand Barbe, Jamie is an enthusiastic member of the local community. He sings with Suzie in the village choir, grows organic vegetables, runs painting courses and plays trombone with local orchestras.

You can see his next exhibition at the end of July-mid Aug here at Grand Barbe studio during the Marciac Jazz Festival. Paintings from the exhibition will be shown on our website.
